Sustainability at FreshSurf: Our contribution

People who surf love nature. Surfing means being in harmony with nature and experiencing water and all its facets intensively. In addition to the fun of surfing, you also get to know the ocean better as your experience grows. As a surfer, you understand the ocean and its conditions over time; terms such as ‘sandbanks’, ‘currents’, ‘swells’, ‘wind directions’, ‘reef, point and beach breaks’ become part of the surfer’s ABC and are used as a matter of course to describe the ocean and its conditions.

Without the knowledge and a developing feeling for the sea and its sensitivity, it is impossible to become a good surferand also life-threatening.

Without the sea, surfing would not be surfing, because the sea and the surfer form a unity whose components need to be understood and interpreted. Surfers love the sea and the power it radiates. You want to protect what you love. But sometimes the question of how, rather than whether, you can do your bit to protect the environment is much more difficult to answer. Anyone who has ever tried to treat nature consciously and very carefully knows that it is not always easy to “not be a polluter”.

The sad truth is that everyone is an environmental offender to one degree or another. Due to everyday conveniences, information gaps, a lack of education and collective ignorance, none of us can admit that we always treat nature correctly. It is often not even possible to behave in an environmentally conscious manner at all times and in all places. And yet, with enough education, small tricks and tips in everyday life, it is sometimes possible to create positive changes and bring about change.

We want to protect what is close to our hearts. Together we should learn to protect and treat with love what we claim and use. We love the sea, the beach and all life connected with it and hope that this blog helps to develop and sharpen a feeling for the sea, environmental protection and environmental sins and that you develop and optimize your own way of dealing with nature and the environment.

We want to make our small contribution to sustainability:

    • By participating in regular beach clean-ups, we help to keep the beaches clean
    • We use ecological paraffin (environmentally friendly surf wax) in the surf courses: it is biodegradable and harmless to the sea and the beach
    • During the surf lessons, no garbage is left behind on the beach and we collect additional garbage and take it back to the surf school where we dispose of it
    • During the surf courses, we emphasize the need for surfers and holidaymakers to treat the ocean and nature responsibly
    • We also pay attention to waste separation, for example, and rely on paperless communication
    • Our Internet provider and host uses 100% green electricity to operate its servers all

Trees are the most efficient CO2 filters in the world. Reforesting forests will help us to counteract climate change. So what if you could turn your daily online searches into new trees? With Ecosia you can. Like most search engines, Ecosia displays advertisements alongside the search results.
