For our guests and us, the surf camp in August really had everything to offer: lots of surf sessions, spontaneous road trips, BBQs with people from all over the world, and two weeks of festival in El Cotillo. In short: a month full of sun, salt, and good vibes! Sounds like a full program? It was – read for yourself!
Surfing, BBQs & Camp-Vibes
Our surf courses at the surf camp in August were full of energy – from the first green waves to long rides in Punta Blanca, we had it all. It was especially nice to see many familiar faces back again, further developing their surfing skills.
In between, it was time to put the boards on the car roof, turn on the music, and spend the whole day at the spot with friends – that’s pure surf lifestyle. In the evenings, there were BBQs, starry skies, and conversations where guests from all over the world became like one big family for a short time. And yes, you even learn that you can still see stars for up to 100 years after they have exploded 😉.
At the end of the month, Hurricane Erin brought us a powerful swell. The sea looked almost wintry and gave us a real spectacle that many guests witnessed in amazement.
Adventures & island moments
The surf camp in August also meant lots of excursions and little adventures. Day trips to Betancuria, detours to secret coves, or walks through the dunes of Corralejo—August also had a lot to offer on land.
And yes, sometimes there was a little too much adventure: cars getting stuck in the sand, or the question of whether Lena’s car would really make it back 😉. But it’s stories like these that make for the best laughs later on.
There was also a colorful surf flea market: from wetsuits to boards to handmade bags, everything was there. Many guests found a new favorite item with sparkling eyes.
Vanlife in El Cotillo
Falling asleep to the sound of the waves, opening the van door in the morning and jumping straight into the sea – for Lena, that was the epitome of freedom. Being on the beach early, before anyone else is awake, paddling the first lines into the water and watching the sunrise from the line-up… those are the moments you never forget.
Buen Viaje Festival – two weeks of pure fiesta in Cotillo
El Cotillo really rocked in August! The “Fiestas en honor a Nuestra Señora del Buen Viaje” is one of the most important festivals on Fuerteventura. Originally celebrated in honor of the patron saint of fishermen, today it combines tradition, music, and exuberant beach parties.
The streets were transformed into a colorful spectacle with garlands, live bands played late into the night, there was a huge water fight at the harbor, fireworks on the beach, and so many people singing in the streets that the whole town felt like a concert. Our guests were right in the middle of it all – whether dancing in the sand, singing along in the streets, or marveling at the fireworks. Two weeks of pure energy and joie de vivre – for many, an unforgettable highlight of their stay.
Best of August – Thank you!
The best part was seeing so many familiar faces again – you made the August surf camp something very special. We will always remember the waves, evenings, and conversations we shared.
At the same time, it was also time to say goodbye: Our Jessi has left the team – thank you for your energy, your support, and the unforgettable weeks! But we also get to welcome a new face: Selina is now supporting us at the camp. We are thrilled to have her on the team – welcome, Selina!
August was wild, warm, full of sunshine, and full of people who filled the surf camp with life. Thank you for being there – we are already looking forward to everything September has in store!
