Surfing in November is always a good idea! Because when the days slowly get shorter in Northern Europe in November, the sun shows itself less and less and the temperatures drop, flights to Fuerte are quickly booked to delay winter in Germany a little longer.

Regulars and new faces
This November was once again a colourful mix of familiar faces and new adventurers. Regulars who already know where the coffee is when they check in, and newcomers who, after two breakfasts, are laughing at the table as if they’ve been part of the FreshSurf family forever. Together we chatted, chilled out and surfed – just the way we like it.
Outside, winter showed itself from its most beautiful side. The first strong swells transformed El Cotillo back into a small surfers’ playground – perfect waves, glassy sessions and enough moments that we would have loved to frame.

The return of remote workers
The coworking space also filled up in no time, because when the weather in Northern Europe turns unpleasant, it’s much better to work from this beautiful spot in the sun. And so everyone worked diligently – laptop closed, wetsuit on, quick dip in the water, back to emails. Work-life balance doesn’t get any better than this.

November gloom? Not on Fuerte!
The sky also gave its all: spectacular sunsets that drew everyone to the cliffs or the beach in the evenings. And thanks to the time change, even the early birds among the surfers were able to get up really early and admire the sunrise from the sea before seven o’clock. Because the magic of sunrise surfing is truly incomparable.
But anyone who thinks November is all sunshine and roses was proven wrong. Storm Claudia gave all the children in the Canary Islands an extra day off school (literally storm-free) and the rest of us a wonderfully grey and cosy rainy day.
Because yes… we had two days of rain. Two! (They reminded us why we love being here on the island so much.)

Learn to surf in the most beautiful winter waves
But since you’re already wet when surfing, that didn’t spoil the fun… And where there’s wind, there are waves, so we really couldn’t complain about a lack of swell in November.
And so our surfing beginners started their surfing careers at the lagoon on the north shore, while the intermediates got plenty to talk about at Punta Blanca. And because one session is never enough, a few people always got together in the evening, packed the rental boards onto the car roof and headed out for round two. The sundowner beer afterwards? More than deserved.
True to the saying ‘time flies when you’re having fun’, we are already looking forward to December and the Christmas season in the Canary Islands. And what would December be without an Advent calendar?! Our FreshSurf Advent calendar is back – both on
Stay tuned – every day a little door, every day a smile.
