Surf course in May – birthday week at FreshSurf!
Birthday week kicked off on Monday with the arrival of the week’s first birthday boy: Daniel started his new year of life not only with lots of good wishes, a tasty little cake and many new friends, but – as is only right on a surf course in May – also with his first proper waves on the surfboard! Unfortunately for Anna, a little weever fish joined the party too… But nothing a warm foot bath couldn’t fix, and the next day she was straight back on the board!
Surf course in May – we’re surfing into May!
At the start of the week, the girls’ flat share at the Surfhouse was joined by our birthday boy of the week, Daniel. Together they headed out with Julian, and Regina, Domenica and Anna showed what they had already learned the week before.
May brought a whole bunch of new and motivated surf students to Fuerteventura who wanted to kick off summer with a surf course in May. So boards and wetsuits were grabbed, theory and take-off were memorised and off we went into the cool water! After a few attempts everyone stood up on their first waves and successfully caught the surf fever!

15 years of surf courses in May – FreshSurf celebrates its birthday
But Daniel wasn’t the only one celebrated extensively this week… Hard to believe but true: this month FreshSurf celebrates its 15th anniversary! We look back on 15 wonderful years, countless waves surfed, great encounters and all the friendships made here in El Cotillo!
Going through the photos “from back then”, we were delighted to see many familiar faces, marvelled at the small and big changes and, above all, noticed one thing: we clearly have the best guests! Thank you so much for your trust, for coming back and for spreading the word!
Surf course in May – sunrise sessions at Punta Blanca
The early bird catches the worm and the early surfer gets the best waves… and even though our intermediates still had very sleepy eyes when they showed up at 7:30 on Monday morning, they were rewarded with small but fine waves and beautiful sunrises! And after a sunrise session like that, the breakfast smoothie tastes so much better!
Steffie couldn’t get enough last week and signed up for the next courses straight away. Surfing until the plane leaves! Lucia and Michael weren’t put off by the alarm clock either and surfed one wave after another on our beautiful north shore! And so three planned surf course days turned into four, then five and then many more!
