Surfbuddy

We all know that some things in life are simply better when you can share them with a loved one, such as a nice dinner, coffee and cake, adventurous trips, or just the great passion of surfing!

Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun when you jump into the water alone and go in search of the perfect wave, but somehow it’s even more fun with friends or your personal surf buddy, isn’t it?

If you haven’t found your favorite surf buddy yet, then the following four points will surely convince you to grab a good friend as soon as possible who shares your passion for the sea and waves and with whom you can go in search of perfect waves together and sit in the line-up for hours and still surf one last wave:

1. a surf buddy keeps you company and offers you safety

Especially at a relatively new spot, it’s always nice to have a nice and familiar face in the line-up who smiles at you from time to time and with whom you can chat briefly in the water, be it about the conditions or about God and the world. A surf buddy gives you a certain sense of security in the water, because you know that someone is looking after you and sometimes wonders where you’ve got to after a wash or two.

2. a surf buddy can motivate you enormously

Getting out of bed before work and setting off for an early-bird session is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s usually on days like this that you miss out on the best waves. That’s why it’s great to have a motivated surf buddy in such situations, but also when the conditions aren’t the best and the waves don’t look too promising from the beach. This is exactly when your surf buddy can motivate you to go into the water anyway and stop you from turning around and driving to the nearest café to have a nice breakfast, because it’s better to have been in the water than not, right?

3. surf buddies learn together, make progress and can celebrate this in style

Of course, it’s best if your surf buddy has a similar surfing level to you, because then you can really go through everything together. You learn from each other, can advise and help each other, hopefully both make progress and can then celebrate your small but great successes in the waves together.

4. emotional support in the line-up, even with fears

When surfing, it can always happen that you get totally blocked in your head, whether it’s the big waves, the other people in the water or whatever. If your mind is blocked like this, you usually can’t do anything and just sit in the channel and watch everyone else, or don’t even dare to get into the water, but this is exactly when your surf buddy can give you a great boost, take away your fears and convince you to paddle into the line-up.
