A week at a surf camp means a week full of sun, sand, sea and unforgettable memories. Here you can read what a week of learning to surf in June at your #zuhauseammeer looks like. From relaxation, fun, action and gorgeous sunsets we’ve got plenty in store – but see for yourself.
Fancy learning to surf in June?
Surfing in June – easy peasy lemon squeezy and let’s go! Well, it’s not quite that easy peasy, but that’s exactly why you’re in the right place with us. If you’ve always wanted to surf, then it’s high time you visited us in cosy El Cotillo.
In our office there are not only seriously tasty sweets but also seriously good surf lessons. For our coaches, your well-being is the top priority, which is why you first get a theory briefing. We want you to feel comfortable in the waves, enjoy the magical energy of the ocean and give it your all and have fun on your surfboard!
Depending on your needs and surf skills, we start from scratch or take your surfing to the next level. But learning to surf in June isn’t all there is. At your #zuhauseammeer there’s so much more to discover than just waves and sand. From cosy cafés and breathtaking landscapes to cool new surf buddies – there’s all that and much more.
The Surfhouse flatshare
True to the motto #zuhauseammeer, we spend as much time as possible together at the Surfhouse and by the water. When the surfers aren’t on their boards, every single sunset gets watched.
And because surfers apparently never get tired, Ronny, Regina and Zoe went surfskating in the beautiful evening sun. On Friday the weekend was kicked off with a visit to the market and the tastiest tapas in El Cotillo. Now that’s the good life!
A fresh breeze blows through the office – a warm welcome to Nina!
Someone very special is now also learning to surf in June: our new intern Nina! For the next two months she’ll support us in the office and be on hand to help you with advice and support.
Nina will tell you how learning to surf in June is going, and so you can get to know her even better, she has put together a little introduction for you.
Learning to surf in June in the beginner course
Learning to surf in June is incredibly popular on Fuerteventura. Laura and Mathias had exactly this plan and are with us this week. Always in a good mood and highly motivated, the two of them strolled into our office at eight in the morning with a beaming smile. That’s how quickly surf fever can take hold.
Regina shares this phenomenon and has passed it straight on to her husband. Last week she was still in our surf course on her own, and this week Ronny joined in too. The little group had a lot of fun in the waves. Sometimes the waves were stronger, sometimes a bit gentler. The good thing is: you learn something new in all surf conditions.
When the waves are gentler, you can focus particularly well on technique. This is especially important when learning to surf in June, because at the beginning you’re still prone to mistakes and it’s best to learn it properly right away. But if the waves are a bit more powerful, the first challenge is handling the surfboard and getting it safely out to the line-up.
As you can see, learning to surf in June isn’t all that easy. But that’s exactly what makes it so exciting and special.
Wow, even more wow: Zoe in the intermediate course
New week, new spot! The week started with a road trip along the North Shore. In search of the perfect spot for the day, the conditions were unfortunately not quite perfect. Sometimes there were no waves at all, other times the waves were breaking very messily, so Julian and Zoe moved on. The road trip ended at the surf spot Majanicho, and after a thorough spot check it was “finally” time to get in the water.
When learning to surf in June, you’ll learn why this spot check is so important.
- How high are the waves?
- Where do you paddle out?
- Where does the wave break?
- Where is the entry and exit point?
- Is there a channel?
- How many people are in the line-up?
All of this is important information so that you feel completely at ease in the water and have fun.
How do I behave at a new surf spot?
And one thing is clear even before the first wave: the sore muscles. The wind is very strong at the moment and the way out to the line-up isn’t short. So paddle power was needed. But as soon as she got there, Zoe caught her first wave. And it simply left us amazed.
Surf coach Julian was as proud as punch of Zoe, and she finished the wave with a huge smile too. It was the biggest wave of her surfing career so far. And that’s exactly how the rest of the week went.
Long story short: Zoe wanted to learn to surf in June – and she absolutely did!
