A warm welcome to the team, Mareen!

Aloha,

I’m Mareen and I’ll be the intern at FreshSurf for the coming months. For the last two years I worked as a media producer at an e-learning company in Cologne. Over the last few months it became more and more clear to me that I’m not made for a routine 9-to-5 job. 30 days of holiday weren’t enough to satisfy my longing for the sea and the waves. At the end of the year I decided to quit my job – and my flat along with it.

My friends’ reaction was always the same: “Wow, that’s brave!” I’ll probably only find out what they meant over the coming weeks. Because my mind always tells me: “If you’re not happy, change something!” Maybe my new adventure will also encourage others to take this step and turn their dreams into action.

I went surfing for the first time in 2019 in New Zealand. Back then I booked myself into a surf camp for a week and had a fantastic time. Since then I can’t imagine life without this sport, which gives me endless energy. Surfing is a passion that can sometimes hurt, but you can also learn so much from it.

I’m looking forward to the time ahead, in which I’ll learn lots of new things and get to support the FreshSurf team.
