This attracts the water in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freshsurf.de\/en\/ocean-and-sea-surf-theory-before-you-hit-the-water\/\">oceans<\/a> slightly, causing the sea level to rise <strong data-start=\"358\" data-end=\"366\">(high tide)<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"368\" data-end=\"371\" \/>At the same time, <strong data-start=\"435\" data-end=\"443\">low tide<\/strong> occurs on the opposite side of the earth as the water recedes there. The Earth&#8217;s rotation sets these high and low tide areas in motion, so that the same tide occurs in the same place approximately every <strong data-start=\"581\" data-end=\"595\" data-is-only-node=\"\">12 hours<\/strong>.
