FreshSurf startete mit einer Idee bzw. mit einer simplen Frage von Steff, auf dem Heimweg aus El Cotillo nach La Pared, wo wir 2008 als Surflehrer gearbeitet haben: “Warum machen wir eigentlich nicht eine eigene Surfschule<\/a> auf?” – Aus der Frage entwickelte sich bereits auf der Fahrt gen S\u00fcden der Name FreshSurf. Unsere Idee war es immer, dass unsere G\u00e4ste, Freunde und jeder, der Lust hat, gerne an der Entwicklung von FreshSurf teilhaben sollte. Auch jetzt freuen wir uns immer \u00fcber Anregungen, Gedanken, Feedback, usw. Darum haben wir auch so fr\u00fch mit dem Bloggen begonnen, was mittlerweile gar nicht mehr wegzudenken ist. Die Wahl der Location – des Ortes f\u00fcr unsere Surfschule<\/h3>\n

Das wir nach Cotillo wollten, stand f\u00fcr uns ja von Anfang an fest, nur wo genau wir unser Gesch\u00e4ftslokal und Homebase aufschlagen wollten, war uns noch nicht klar. Von Deutschland aus haben wir versucht mit Immobilienmaklern in Kontakt<\/a> zu treten und Webseiten durchforstet. Es war schwierig vor \u00fcber 10 Jahren etwas brauchbares zu finden. 2008 wurde noch viel vor Ort, in Maklerb\u00fcros gehandelt und wenig war online zu finden. Wir haben ein Restaurant gefunden, was wir uns vorstellen h\u00e4tten k\u00f6nnen, als Surfcamp<\/a> auszubauen, aber wie sich herausstellte, was dieses bereits seit 3 Jahren nicht mehr auf dem Markt und schon l\u00e4ngst verkauft. Wie wir hier vor Ort dann doch noch ein sch\u00f6nes Local gefunden haben, kannst du im folgenden Blogpost nachlesen. Au\u00dferdem habe ich hier noch unsere ersten Entw\u00fcrfe unseres Gesch\u00e4ftslocals gepostet. Mittlerweile hat sich da einiges getan und wir haben bereits unz\u00e4hlige Male umgebaut.<\/p>\n

FreshSurf – Na Logo – The creation of our logo<\/h3>\n

In 2008, we actually wanted to use a drop of water as our logo – but it always looked like washing-up liquid and we abandoned the idea. When I get the chance, I’ll look up a few suggestions from our graphic designer so you can see what I mean. <\/p>\n

Finding the right logo is not that easy. We often discussed and brainstormed late into the night. We sat down with various designers and then decided on a very talented young man – Marco. How do we actually get all the material to Fuerteventura? Is everything available there? Will we really get everything we need on the island or would we rather take some of it with us? We answered these questions by thinking that it would probably be safer if we took everything with us to the island. No sooner said than done – “we are trailers” – than we bought a trailer. Zusammenfassung des Trips von Straubing nach Fuerteventura<\/h3>\n

\"\"Bewaffnet mit einem T4 California in weinrot, einem Anh\u00e4nger bepackt mit einem halben Surfcamp, einem guten\u00a0Freund und sechs Flaschen Apfelsaft gings \u00fcber Frankreich nach Spanien. Da man mit so einem H\u00e4nger ja nicht sehr schnell unterwegs ist, schafften wir pro Tag nur um die 700 Kilometer<\/strong> und wurden von der doppelten Anzahl Autos \u00fcberholt. Dazu noch zwei Spr\u00fccheklopfer eingesperrt auf f\u00fcnf Quadratmeter<\/strong> und der Wahnsinn nahm seinen Lauf.<\/p>\n

Da einem ja da mal langweilig werden kann, haben wir das franz\u00f6sche Autodesign bewertet, spanische Rastst\u00e4tten begutachtet, Die Prinzen geh\u00f6rt, den Spritverbrauch berechnet, sind mal einh\u00e4ndig gefahren, hatten mal den linken Fuss auf dem Gaspedal, haben Wein an der Costa Brava getrunken, die Mautstellen in Spanien gez\u00e4hlt, uns am Kopf gekratzt,….<\/p>\n

Nachdem mein Freund Dominik ( ein dickes Dankesch\u00f6n f\u00fcr die Unterst\u00fctzung ) in Sevilla ins Flugzeug stieg bin ich direkt nach Cadiz um die F\u00e4hre zu entern.\u00a0Nach anderthalb Tagen Fahrt kam ich dann in Lanzarote an.\u00a0Nach einer Nacht in Lanzarote konnte ich dann endlich nach Fuerte \u00fcbersetzen und unser Appartement beziehen.<\/p>\n

Auf dem ersten Bild war unsere Wunschvorstellung, am Computer erstellt zu sehen – hier vor Ort mussten wir jedoch die spanischen Realit\u00e4t kennen lernen. Die Einrichtung war damals schon sehr gepr\u00e4gt von “m\u00f6chte-gern” Surferstyle, Hawaii-Blumen, Bettw\u00e4sche mit Hibiscusbl\u00fcten darauf, Poster von Surfern wohin das Auge blickte.<\/p>\n

Nach der Ankunft hatten wir direkt einen Wasserschaden im Surfschul-Office und konnten nicht direkt mit der Einrichtung beginnen. Steff landete sicher auf der Insel, war aber v\u00f6llig fertig nach der \u00dcberfahrt. Der Bulli hatte die Fahrt bis auf ein paar Kleinigkeiten, wie einen defekten Auspuff gut \u00fcberstanden. Ab jetzt ging es volle Kraft voraus ans Werk: Kampf mit den spanischen Beh\u00f6rden, Bankgesch\u00e4fte, Telefon- & Internet beantragen und viele Kleinigkeiten, die wir noch zu erledigen hatten!<\/p>\n

\"img_0302\"\"img_0373\"Gestern waren wir auf Lanzarote und haben bei IKEA eingekauft. Es war einfach nur unglaublich, die gesamte akribische Vorbereitung in Deutschland wurde \u00fcber den Haufen geworfen, weil der IKEA Store einfach mal super winzig war und wir fast nichts gefunden haben. So verbrachten wir beinahe 7 Stunden im Neonlicht, w\u00e4hrend drau\u00dfen etwa 30\u00b0 Celsius herrschten. Die Mitarbeiter waren super freundlich und, vielleicht etwas ungew\u00f6hnlich –\u00a0betreute uns ein Mitarbeiter\u00a0die ganze Zeit \u00fcber und wir hatten immer einen Ansprechpartner. Ich glaube, der hat eine gute Provision gewittert.<\/p>\n

Wir waren um 18:15 Uhr mit dem beladen des H\u00e4ngers und des Autos fertig. Nun hatten wir noch 45 min. Zeit um mit ca. 60 gef\u00fchlten 30 km\/h eine Strecke von 45 km zur\u00fcck zulegen, um wieder passend im Hafen anzukommen. Die F\u00e4hre sollte um 19:00 Uhr auslaufen und der H\u00e4nger schaukelte wie ein Schiff. Stefan man\u00f6vrierte das schaukelnde Seegelschiff aber sicher durch die Weiten Lanzarotes und wir kamen um 18:55 Uhr im Hafen an. Ticket kaufen, am v\u00f6llig \u00fcberf\u00fcllten Schalter und dann ab nach Fuerteventura, wo wir wohlbehalten gegen 20:30 Uhra ankamen.<\/p>\n

Wir begannen sofort mit dem entladen von H\u00e4nger und Auto … um 00:00 Uhr waren wir dann einigerma\u00dfen fertig und tod-m\u00fcde. Wir fielen in unsere Betten – nur um heute wieder fr\u00fch aufzustehen, um das Apartment fertig zu gestalten, denn wir sollten heute unseren ersten Gast bekommen. Genie\u00dft die Bilder und betrachtet das fertige Werk.<\/p>\n

“Steff und ich haben gestern ein Vordach f\u00fcr unser Apartment gebaut. Dazu haben wir Agavenbl\u00fcten, Palmwedel und Hanfseil verwendet. Jetzt k\u00f6nnen wir das karibische Gef\u00fchl genie\u00dfen und unter Palmen ein wenig im Schatten sitzen, arbeiten und relaxen.”<\/p>\n

The Spanish mills of the law<\/h2>\n

The mills of the law grind slowly. This morning we started a day full of visits to the authorities<\/strong>, or so we assumed. Everything was still in order with the tax consultant. Horacio, a likeable, slightly stocky man in his mid-fifties, informed us that from today onwards we would be officially called FreshSurf Cotillo S.L., as FreshSurf S.L. is not possible in Spain. Some company is probably already called “Fresh Fruits” or something similar and we can therefore not officially use the name. Accordingly, FreshSurf is a brand of FreshSurf Cotillo S.L. – a limited liability company. <\/p>\n

Then we went to the notary to clarify some formalities. The appointment was at 10:30 a.m. and we were on time … Unfortunately, the Spanish mentality got the better of us. Our next appointment would have been in Puerto del Rosario at 2pm. Good planning, actually, and easy to manage. Who could have guessed that the “Notar\u00eda” would need just under 3 hours to “appear”<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Well, unfortunately we had to cancel the appointment and that means Pepe and I have to get up at 6am tomorrow to go to the Polic\u00eda Nacional, where we can apply for our “Residencia”. This is something like a certificate that makes you a “local” in the Canary Islands. In short, we decided to check out the spots on the North Shore and go surfing. Unfortunately, the wind put a spanner in the works – but at least we now know how many beautiful spots there are here … <\/p>\n

Surfcamp Deluxe<\/h3>\n

Unser Surfcamp Deluxe wird ins Leben gerufen, in Kooperation mit Tom und dem Marea Viva<\/p>\n

\"IMG_0638-2\"Einige Appartementanlagen etwas n\u00f6rdlich nehmen die G\u00e4ste auf, und dort, wo das alte Haus der legend\u00e4ren “Mama Maria” stand, befindet sich heute das kleine 2-Sterne-Hotel \u201eMarea Viva\u201c, mit dessen Hilfe wir auch unser Surf Camp<\/a> Deluxe anbieten k\u00f6nnen. Mama Maria erhielt 1983 f\u00fcr ihre Verdienste im Tourismus eine Goldmedaille. Vor 60 Jahren schon richtete sie in ihrem Wohnzimmer das erste \u201cRestaurant\u201c der Insel ein, wo dann auch die ersten Touristen vor 30 Jahren Rast machten, ebenfalls in ihrem Wohnraum. Jeden Tag kochte sie das gleiche Essen, Jahr f\u00fcr Jahr, Suppe, Fischeintopf. Heute hat sich das Essen doch etwas gewandelt und es gibt das leckerste Fr\u00fchst\u00fccksbuffet, was man sich nur vorstellen kann.<\/p>\n

The house of the madmen – official madness on the island<\/h3>\n

Who remembers Asterix against the Romans? In the House of the Madmen, Asterix has to get the A38 pass. In our case, this permit A38 is the CIV number (Spanish tax number). You need this number to open an account here in order to be able to apply for internet and telephone access. Not to forget that you can then finally pay taxes. So this morning we went to the house of the crazy people (tax consultants) to get the “Passierschein A38”. We’ve been waiting a good five weeks for it. But far from it. We have only been allocated a provisional number so far. We’ll call it A38b. But with this number we were told that we cannot open an account. <\/p>\n

The account here is called “Passierschein B65” and we call the Internet the “Blue Form”. It has to be said that since we’ve been here, we’ve climbed more stairs than Asterix and Obelix together in the House of Madmen. Yesterday this story became too colorful for us. We quickly went to the bank and with a smile on our faces and a lot of talking, we were able to get the “Passierschien A38b” and the “Passierschein B65”. After overcoming this hurdle, we are off to Corralejo<\/a> today to apply for the “Blue Form” with the “A38b” and the “B65”. We are looking forward to a continuation and will keep you up to date… <\/p>\n

Oli ist da! Er hat uns genau wie Maria, die dann im M\u00e4rz 2010 folgen sollte unerdenklich viel unterst\u00fctzt. Die beiden haben beim Aufbau und der Entwicklung einen riesen Anteil gehabt und wir werden ihnen auf ewig super dankbar sein!<\/p>\n

Abschied von Steff und Shelter<\/h3>\n

\"Der\"steff-2\"Morgen treten Shelter und ich die Heimreise nach Deutschland an. Nach elf Wochen Fuerteventura gehts wieder nach Straubing in Bayern. Eine super Zeit die aber auch teilweise sehr stressig war geht zu Ende. Neben der Fahrt hier runter haben uns langsame Beh\u00f6rden, seltsame Formulare, geduldige Papiere und verr\u00fcckte Beamte auf die Palme gebracht. Shelter nutzte seine Zeit sehr sinnvoll, indem er Berge anschaute, sich in toten M\u00f6wen w\u00e4lzte, eine Gang\u00a0gr\u00fcndete und seine Ern\u00e4hrung umstellte.<\/p>\n

Doch nat\u00fcrlich fanden \u00fcber dies erfreuliche Ereignisse stand. Neben supernetten G\u00e4sten, von denen manche zum Wiederholungst\u00e4tern wurden und erneut gebucht haben, wurde ich von ein paar Freunden besucht die auch Teil der Community wurden.<\/p>\n

Man kann sagen das FreshSurf genau das wurde was ich mir vorgestellt habe. Ein Surfcamp das nicht still steht und sich verbessert und nicht mit Spass geizt. Ein grosses “Danke” an Toby und Pepe, die meinen Aufenthalt hier auf jeden Fall mitgepr\u00e4gt haben. Wenn man elf Wochen unter dem gleichen Dach wohnt und ein Unternehmen gr\u00fcndet, sich permanent sieht und die Zeit miteinander verbringt und sich danach noch ausstehen kann ist das auf jeden Fall eine Erw\u00e4hnung wert. \"chinese\" Gestern Abend ging es zum Abschied nehmen oder besser gesagt Abschied “essen” zum China Buffet in Corralejo bei HONG KONG (kann es sein, dass fast jedes 2. Chinarestaurant so hei\u00dft?). Ein einzigartiges Sammelsorium der Leckereien war dort zu finden. \u00dcber 90 verschiedene Gerichte wurden pr\u00e4sentiert. Es wirkte aber nicht \u00fcberladen, sondern wurde in eher kleineren Mengen (daf\u00fcr immer frisch) dargeboten. Wir hatten ziemlich viel Spass beim Wetteifern um den Titel des gr\u00f6\u00dften Vielfraa\u00dfes und wie ihr auf dem Foto erkennen k\u00f6nnt: W\u00e4hrend einige noch a\u00dfen, mussten sich andere schon schwer beherrschen nicht das zu tun, wozu es bei mir beinahe gekommen w\u00e4re… Wie die H\u00fchner auf der Stange haben wir fast 2 Stunden gefuttert, bis der Kellner dann zum Abschlu\u00df mit einem 62 %-igen Reiswein aka Reisschnapps an den Tisch kam. Oli’s O-Ton<\/em> nach weiteren 2 Stunden: “ich f\u00fchle den immer noch in meinem Inneren brennen!”\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Familien Surfen<\/a> – eine wichtige S\u00e4ule unserer Surfschule beginnt in den Sommerferien richtig gut zu laufen. Wir haben die ersten Familien-Surfkurse und sind begeistert, wie schnell Kinder lernen und wie viel Spa\u00df gemeinsames Surfen<\/a> Lernen macht!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> Am 05.08.2009 hatten wir unsere erste d\u00e4nische Familie bei uns zu Gast im Familien Surfkurs. Es waren super Bedingungen – clean und nicht sehr gro\u00df, daf\u00fcr aber genug Wei\u00dfwasser f\u00fcr unsere Beginner und kleinere, gr\u00fcne Wellen f\u00fcr die Fortgeschrittenen. Der Tag stand ganz im Zeichen des Wellenreitens f\u00fcr Familien, von den gro\u00dfen bis zu den ganz kleinen kamen heute alle auf ihre Kosten und hatten viel Spa\u00df beim Surfen im Atlantik.<\/p>\n

\"\"So jetzt ist Freitag und 12 Tage Surfcamp<\/a> bei FreshSurf sind vorbei. Wir sitzen in der Lounge und warten auf unseren Flug\u2026 Es war wirklich ein super sch\u00f6ner Urlaub. Dankesch\u00f6n an alle die dazu beigetragen haben. Ob Leni die uns stets mit einem Naaaaaaa\u2026 ??? + bezaubernden L\u00e4cheln begr\u00fc\u00dfte oder mit einem modischen Rat zur Seite stand und auch bereit war Partyg\u00e4ste die nicht mehr gehen konnten im Einkaufswagen zu schieben. Der eine war bereit mit uns 2 etwas angetrunkenen M\u00e4dls bis in die Puppen zu tanzen und auch in der Karaokebar mehr oder weniger unser Bestes zu geben!! Und der andere Chris bereicherte jedes Gespr\u00e4ch mit seinen wahnsinns Kommentaren. \u201eHaben wir geh\u00f6rt oder nein das haben wir gelesen\u2026\u201c \ud83d\ude09 Und nat\u00fcrlich Toby, \u201eder Saubua\u201c \ud83d\ude09 der nat\u00fcrlich NICHT das typische Klischee eines Surflehrers erf\u00fcllte\u2026 Er hat uns von vorne bis hinten immer umsorgt (ob mit leckeren BBQs oder mit seinem Gesang + Gitarre, \u2026) Ja und nat\u00fcrlich nicht zu vergessen, unser Surflehrer Pepe. Danke erst mal dass du uns jetzt zu richtigen Surfergirls gemacht hast. Er war immer f\u00fcr einen Spa\u00df zu haben und bem\u00fchte sich auch die bayerische Sprache zu lernen, was zum Schluss auch hervorragend klappte!! Also f\u00fcr alle Bayern unter uns, h\u00f6rts gut zu wenns hei\u00dft: \u201eOa Welln no und dann kemmts au\u00dfa ausm Wossa!\u201c Ob beim Surfen, Shoppen, BBQ, Feiern, Essen oder auch gem\u00fctlich bei ein, zwei Bierchen, es war immer lustig und NETT \ud83d\ude09 bei euch\u2026 Wir kommen wieder keine Frage! Das war schon eine lustige Zeit mit Bea, eine Zeit mit H\u00f6hen und Tiefen… Alles fing mit dem verschwundenen Koffer an, es folgte der erste Surfkurstag und schon stand Bea ohne Probleme nach ca. gef\u00fchlten 10 Minuten schon das erste mal auf dem Surfboard<\/a> und begann bis zum Ende ihrer Zeit bei uns immer besser zu werden. Gestern folgte dann der finale Abschluss mit dem schr\u00e4gen Abfahren der gr\u00fcnen Welle. Unglaublich – ein Naturtalent auf dem Wasser!<\/p>\n

Die Entstehung des Surf & Dive Hostels – Marea Viva<\/h2>\n

Eine neue Sonne am Surfcamp Himmel geht langsam auf …<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Lange haben wir uns schon mit der Frage besch\u00e4ftigt, ob ein Surfcamp in Apartments wirklich den Surfcampcharakter hat, wie wir ihn uns w\u00fcnschen. Nun, es kommt dem Ganzen schon sehr nahe, da wir ja auch noch die Lounge haben, aber irgendetwas hat immer gefehlt.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Vor einiger Zeit haben wir begonnen mit dem Marea Viva Surf & Dive Hotel zusammen zu arbeiten. Jetzt haben wir beschlossen diese Zusammenarbeit zu auszuweiten und das Hotel langsam und Schritt f\u00fcr Schritt in ein Surf<\/a> & Dive Hostel<\/strong> umzuwandeln. Heute haben wir begonnen die ersten vier Zimmer f\u00fcr unser FreshSurf Surfcamp<\/strong> herzurichten. Es wird ein Viererzimmer, ein Dreierzimmer, zwei Doppelzimmer sowie ein Einzelzimmer\u00a0geben – aber da ist noch Platz f\u00fcr mehr. Wir werden die Pl\u00e4tze f\u00fcr unser Surfcamp<\/a> erst einmal auf\u00a012 beschr\u00e4nken, da wir lieber weiterhin in kleiner Gruppen unterrichten m\u00f6chten. Das tolle ist, dass wir nun im Hostel eine Gemeinschaftsk\u00fcche anbieten k\u00f6nnen, es gibt eine Bar sowie einen Fr\u00fchst\u00fccksraum, eine gro\u00dfe Dachterrasse und das Hostel liegt direkt am Meer. Nach und nach wird nun ein Hostel im Balistyle f\u00fcr Wassersportinterressierte und Wassersportverr\u00fcckte entstehen. \u00dcber\u00a0Anregungen w\u00fcrden wir uns sehr freuen…<\/p>\n

New entrance area in front of the lounge<\/h3>\n

At the weekend we felt like doing a little remodeling. We decided to build the palm frond-covered entrance area in front of the lounge to create a unique flair. Old surfboards now exude their very own charm there and with a few more plants, a small island is created that is very reminiscent of Robinson Crusoe and Friday … <\/p>\n

Zeit auch einmal ein paar Worte \u00fcber Pepe zu verlieren. Er hat uns von Anfang an hier auf der Insel begleitet. Er hat als Surflehrer<\/a> f\u00fcr uns gearbeitet und hat uns, wo er nur konnte unterst\u00fctzt. Wir haben ihn immer wieder wegen seinem \u00fcberzogenen Billig-Cola-Konsum auf den Arm genommen, denn davon konnte er schon mal gut und gerne 2-3 Liter am Tag vertilgen. Angesehen hat man es ihm jedoch nicht. An dieser Stelle m\u00f6chte ich mich noch einmal herzlich bei dir bedanken Pepe. 1000 Dank f\u00fcr Alles, was du in den Anfangszeiten von FreshSurf alles geleistet hast.<\/p>\n

Im Oktober ist Pepe dann zu den Deutschen Meisterschaften im Wellenreiten<\/a> aufgebrochen. Eigentlich wollte er wieder zur\u00fcck kommen, jedoch hat sich dann einiges in seinem Leben ge\u00e4ndert.<\/p>\n

“Wir haben uns seitdem noch nicht wieder getroffen, aber ich w\u00fcrde mich freuen, wenn du uns entweder einmal besuchen kommst mein Lieber, oder, wenn wir uns in Portugal – deiner neuen Wahlheimat sehen!”<\/p>\n
